Opening reception

Details: Come enjoy snacks and drinks at this year’s opening reception, held at the campus Pub Universitaire. We will have the whole pub to ourselves!

Beer night in the Vieux-Québec

Date: Monday, May 10th, 2010
Time: TBA
Departure Location: Poster session lobby
Goal : To find beer in old Québec City
Details: Student volunteers will organise a night out in old Québec City. The goal is simple: Find beer. Details to come.
Costs: City bus tickets, cash for consumption. Bring your walking shoes.


Dinner-Cruise on the Louis Jolliet
Date: Tuesday, May 11th, 2010
Bus Departure Time and Location: 9 buses will be waiting at the rear of the Vandry building to take you to the Louis-Jolliet from 5:30 pm and will leave as they are fulled. The last bus will depart at 6:15 pm.
Cruise Departure Time: 7:00 pm
Bus Return Time: The buses will be ready to take you back to the university from 10:00 pm. The Louis-Jolliet closes at 11:00 pm and the last bus will leave at 11:15 pm.
Registration: Required. Please register for this event when registering to attend this conference.
Cost: Free for registered CSEE conference participants.
Details: This year’s reception banquet will be held on Québec City’s Louis Jolliet cruise ship. A tropical dinner including a salad bar, dessert, coffee, tea and herbal teas is included. Roast pork, curry chicken, salmon, sausages, stuffed pasta, vegetarian paëlla, roasted potatoes and seasonal vegetables are all on the menu. And, of course, half a bottle of wine per person is also included. A most beautiful scenic view of old Québec City will be on our journey spanning from the Montmorency waterfall to the city’s bridges. The cruise and banquet meal are included in the registration fees. Make sure to register for this event in the registration form.

Field trip

Cap Tourmente

Date: Thursday, May 13th, 2010
Bus Departure Time and Location: Buses will be leaving at 8:30 AM sharp, behind the Vandry Building on Thursday May 13. Registered participants are asked to arrive at 8:20 AM.
Registration: Required. Please register for this event when registering to attend this conference.
Cost: $35 per person. This price includes bus fees, entrance fee, access to hiking trails, two guided tours of the Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area to see the Greater Snow Geese and Peregrine Falcon, and lunch. Please register and pay for this event upon registering for the meeting in Québec City.
Details: A one day excursion at the Cap Tourmente National Wildlife Area is planned. This wildlife area is nearly 2,400 hectares; 34% is an intertidal marsh. Located less than 50 km from Québec City, it serves as a staging area for the Greater Snow Geese in the fall and spring. In April and May, they can be observed in flocks of hundreds or thousands. Guided tours of the Greater Snow Geese staging areas and Peregrine Falcon nest sites are included in the price. Along with these birds, and over 300 other bird species, Cap Tourmente is home to many mammals, amphibians, reptiles, fish, insects, and over 700 plant species. Fifteen hiking trails are on site.
